SS16 Trend Preview
From new season nauticals to clashing digital prints, this is your need-to-know guide for the season ahead. Don’t miss a thing…
Moving on from last years Blueprint, Urban Sports is this season street wear hero. It’s a casual trend influenced by sporty shapes and motocross references. With Japanese inspired slogans and prints being the latest graphic direction it’s a pretty easy one to wear every day. It’s black and white with an injection of red. The key pieces are the boohooMAN favorite; the bomber jacket. Long line layering and shirts in oversized cuts with joggers, skater shorts and moto style denim.
It’s young, it’s cool, and it’s sporty.
It comes through most summers but this time Nautical gets deep. With denim and sweats in dark indigo it’s about tonal dressing. You’ll see the ol’ fave anchor icon back but also deep sea creatures like octopus (octopi?). Get denim, sweats, stripes and prints. All in indigo. It’s also pretty practical with lightweight parkas, the coolest cagoule (the favorite at boohooMAN HQ) printed sweaters and ribbed knits you can get the summer feeling early and still stay warm and dry on land.
Think mod but more utilitarian. With laundered fabrics (that’s worn linen, cotton and denim to you and me) it’s the ultimate trend to go for if you’re not into trends. It’s practical, with utility pockets on shirts, coats and trousers making it one you’ll want for festivals and the city alike. We love the utility vest and obviously the long line bomber. The cuts are versatile with granddad collars, popper fastenings; with Mod influences like the polo collar t-shirts.
A smart sports trend, it’s a move on from summer’s Retro Revival trend. With retro sports pieces like the racer jackets and polo shirts you can wear this trend from the park to the pub. Colour blacks in red and blue take inspiration from Russian sports. With knitted polo cardigans and t-shirts; think 70’s sports, revisited in the 90’s via Russia. And you have Modern Mod.
As you’d image this is a print driven trend with inspiration taken from technology and futurism. Console graphics, glitch prints, pixel patterns & retro style gaming; remember Space Invaders? NO? OK, well get your Gameboy, this is a trend for the modern skater boy. Featuring the bomber jacket, you’ll also see new shapes, long line and boxy shirts with drawstring hems and funnel necks. Wide leg skater pants, and skate shorts are key. Takes you back to your teens.
True to its name this is a great trend for the summer’s festivals. Consisting of traditional African prints and patterns combines with palm conversationals and tropical prints; palms say summer guys! It’s a mixture of earthy tones and hi-shine fabrics. There’s a utility vest and a summer cagoule, a wrap front shirt and granddad collars, raw edges on t’s and a boilersuit. This trend screams FESTIVAL WARDROBE.
With an essence of street tailoring, Blanco is all about clan lines and, you guessed it, white, with a touch of grey and pastel colours to add to the palette. A youth trend with kitsch slogans added to contrast with the smarter silhouettes. A key piece is the coat with the collarless bomber, duster and trench. Square necks on sweats and straight leg jeans move shapes to the new season. You ready to hang up your skinnies?!
This year sees the Rio Olympics and fashion has been influenced. It’s got to be a vibrant trend featuring sportwear and true sports shapes. A huge pop of colour inspired by the energetic attitude of Brazil itself. Shell jackets, nylon biker, bright baseball shirts and track pants are key. On your marks…
