Platinum With No Features.

J. Cole managed to go platinum with an album that contained no features and that kind of begs the question, is he one of the best? When 2014 Forest Hills Drive released the critics went crazy over a young rapper from Carolina who took influences from both the East & West Coasts. Boasting a mentor in none other than Jay-Z, Cole spoke fondly of the influences that the likes of Tupac, Biggie Smalls, Snoop Dogg and Eminem had on his style and with inspiration like that - who needs features?

On Friday, J.Cole finally released his long awaited follow up album in the form of 4 Your Eyez Only and what's most apparent from a couple of runs through the album is that he doesn't really care to be famous. In a year that has seen Kanye West drop an album, have another child, a couple of clothing lines and a mental breakdown, all in the public eye, it's quite refreshing to hear from a guy who's happy to fold clothes and drink almond milk at home with his family.

Whether J. Cole will go platinum for the second time is yet to be seen, but it's safe to say that he's back in the game and sitting pretty at the top where he belongs.
